Downtown Pensacola celebrates Gallery Night~

Downtown Pensacola welcomes you to Gallery Night! 
What a wonderful way to discover downtown Pensacola and the businesses that call it home.

Downtown Pensacola's Gallery Night, celebrated several times a year, is a family friendly event that is sponsored by businesses and galleries located in downtown Pensacola. Palafox steet is closed to traffic from 5- 9p.m. on select Friday nights throughout the year. The street party usually lasts through midnight.

The Gallery Night crowd is very diverse. The early crowd is a mix of families with children participating in events such as the legal graffiti wall and listening to the different street bands play. As the night dances on, families head home and the streets fill with more of a younger crowd. Hundreds hang out at one of the many bars and restaurants on Palafox, such as Hop Jacks and Global Grill. World of Beer, Palafox's newest bar, has been a big hit at Gallery Night since it's opening this summer.

Shopping is abundant at Gallery Night. Local stores extend their hours to accommodate shoppers.  Visit one of the many art galleries and support a local artist with the purchase of one of their paintings, sculptures, or drawings. Buy some handmade jewelry, pottery, soap, and more from local vendors at Art in the Park, which is set up along the sidewalks and along the street near Seville Quarter.

Gallery Night is also a venue for several community events.  This past Gallery Night, held on September 14, 2012 hosted Pensacola's Block Party Wedding. Several brides and grooms, dressed in their wedding attire, met at the corner of Palafox and Garden streets to get married in a group wedding setting.

There are two more Gallery Nights scheduled for this year including October 19 and November 16, 2012. For a list of participating vendors and updates, follow them on facebook.

Downtown Pensacola has so much to offer with its many festivals and its vibrant downtown with a mix of old world charm and growing contemporary vibe. This weekend, September 28th through 30th, downtown Pensacola will host its annual Seafood festival.
