We are continuously exploring the Gulf Coast to bring you fun day trips for the whole family. It's worth traveling a few hours to visit all the hidden treasures along the Gulf of Mexico. 

The Estuarium is located at 101 Bienville Blvd, Daulphin Island, AL 36528 which is just under a two hour commute from central Pensacola. The Estaurium is a marine aquarium that offers hands on education for all ages. It allows you up close and personal encounters with some of the marine life we share the Gulf Coast with.

The Estuarium features over 10,000 square feet of educational exhibits and living marine life as well as a large "Living Marsh Boardwalk" featuring live Gulf Coast marine life.  The Estuarium showcases wildlife from four different Alabama coastal habitats including Mobile Bay, Mobile Tensaw River Delta, the Barrier Islands, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Admission Prices & Hours of Operation
  • Adults $10
  • Children (5-18) or with student ID $6
  • Seniors $8
The estuairum is open seven days a week. 
Summer Hours: March 1 - August 31~ Monday through Saturday 9 am to 6 pm. Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.
Winter Hours: September 1- February 28 ~ Monday through Saturday 9 am to 6 pm. Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm.

Expect to spend around an hour or two exploring the estuarium.  While there is a small gift shop, they do not provide food or beverages outside a few vending machines.  Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring your camera. For more information about the Estuarium, visit their website.

Since you made the trip, you should definitely visit the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center too. Located at 65 Government Street, in downtown Mobile, AL, it's on the way to (or back from) Daulphin Island. Entrance is $16 for adults and $14.50 for children. This museum is much larger with over 150 hands on science activities and experiments that children of all ages will enjoy for hours. 

Together, the Estuarium and Exploreum make a very fun, educational day that's definitely worth the drive!
