Float down Blackwater River State Park~
Milton's Coldwater & Blackwater Creek offer unbeatable recreation options!
Whether you call Pensacola home or merely vacation here during summer, exploring Blackwater River State Forest in Milton, FL should be on your to do list if you are looking for fun ways to spend the day!
While many choose camping and fishing along Blackwater RIver State Park, many Pensacola area natives have deep rooted traditions to Tube, Canoe, and Kayak their way through Blackwater River State Park.
Planning your Milton River Trip
Navigate your way through several fresh water streams throughout Blackwater River State Forest including the two main rivers: Coldwater Creek & Blackwater Creek. The creek is said to have an average depth of 2 feet throughout the river. Situated along the creeks are numerous sand bars to stop and enjoy a picnic or cold beverage from. Watch for wildlife and make great memories wading through the rivers.
Tubing season runs from mid spring to late summer and even early fall. Both companies recommend an 80+ degree day for tubing as this allows for a pleasant warmer water experience.
Pick a date- invite your family and friends- and get your cooler packed! Make sure to bring sandwiches, snacks, water, and canned beer and soda (no glass or hard liquor). As always in Northwest Florida, bring plenty of water, sunscreen and bug spray for maximum enjoyment!
There are two established companies who rent tubes, canoes, and kayaks at Blackwater River State Park. I've personally taken river trips with both and enjoyed both equally. Adventures Unlimited is definitely the larger of the two companies with prices slightly cheaper at Bob's Canoes. Check them both out with more information below.
Adventures Unlimited- 8974 Tomahawk Landing Rd., Milton, FL 32570
Adventures Unlimited offers several trips with variable distances including 4 mile tubing trips, and 4, 7, & 11 mile Canoe & Kayak excursions. They say the average 4 mile tube trip takes around 3.5 hours to complete.
Trips leave hourly during busy season from 8 am to 3pm. Tubes start approximately $20 per person with canoes and kayaks run $35 to $60. Cooler tubes are also available for $10 and greatly enhances your Blackwater River Trip.
Adventures Unlimited also offers several unique tours including a Ropes Challenge Course and a new line of Zip Line Canopy Tours. Watch Visit Pensacola's team on an Adventures Unlimited Zip Line through Blackwater River State Forest below~
