Pensacola, FL Snow Storm!

Pensacola, FL Snow Storm 2014!
Snow, sleet and ice brought real winter weather to the Pensacola area.

Plants all over the Pensacola area froze
during winter storm Leon!
For the first time since 1993, the Pensacola area saw a light coating of snow, sleet, and ice! With temperatures as low as 15 degrees, winter storm Leon brought arctic air to the Florida panhandle.

Pipes burst, roads were iced, and all businesses and schools shut down. In fact, Escambia & Santa Rosa County used 3 snow days.  A local state of emergency was declared.  All of the country, Northerner's laughed at our inability to handle a little icy weather.

Without snow plows and salt for the roads, most local bridges were closed for days including I-10 Bridge connecting Pensacola & Milton, Hwy 90 bridge connecting Pensacola and Pace, the 3 Mile Bridge connecting Pensacola to Gulf Breeze and both bridges to Pensacola Beach & Perdido Key!

We asked our residents to share their icy photos with us. Here are a few of our favorites.

And of course, we had a little photoshop fun to transform East Hill's 12th Ave tree tunnel into the perfect backdrop for a staff photo immersed in a winter wonderland.
