KlaasKids Foundation: Advocates for the missing

KlaasKids Foundation: Pensacola's advocate for the missing.
Pensacola non-profit helps educate families on safety and search for missing family members.

The Pensacola Bay area is home to several non-profit foundations that serve to continually better our community. Recently I had the pleasure of learning about KlaasKids Foundation, a non profit whose mission is to stop crimes against children.  This national non profit has its search center located here in Pensacola, Florida.

The foundation educates families on safety and, when necessary, assists in organizing a community volunteer search effort for a missing child.

Both families of missing children, as well as law enforcement, call KlaasKids to help provide necessary search efforts.  The team of approximately 20, along with trained K-9 and cadaver dogs, rely on community support and donations.

KlaasKids also fights human trafficking and aids in retrieving human trafficking victims.  Additionally, this group of volunteers helps influence legislation to improve laws surrounding our youths safety.

Recently, KlaasKids has been involved in helping locate Tiffany Daniels, a 25 year old woman who is missing from the Pensacola area.  In conjunction with KlaasKids, her family is hosting a Swing Dancing event tomorrow, Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 7-10pm. They hope to spread awareness about human trafficking.  Please come out to the American Legion Downtown Post 33 at 1401 Intendencia St., Pensacola, FL 32502. For more information on how to help find Tiffany Daniels, visit their website http://www.Helpfindtiffany.com

Aprils Pensacola Print-a-Thon
This free service, brought to you by KlaasKids, is a safety precaution and serves as a great opportunity for you to talk to your children about safety.  KlaasKid volunteers will be on site to offer finger printing services and portraits of your children (must be 3 months and older).

This simple process takes about 2 minutes per child.  KlaasKids utilizes a high technology system that collects digital fingerprints without ink. They also provide DNA collection kits to parents. KlaasKids does not store this information; they provide, you, the parent, the only copy.  So mark your calendars and swing on by Hill Kelly Dodge on Pensacola Blvd. from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday, April 5, 2014.

A few tips to help you keep your children safe:
  • Talk with your children about safety.
  • Show your children the safest routes to and from school and ensure they use the buddy system.
  • Insist that your children be home before dark.
  • Know your children's friends including their names, addresses and phone number.
  • Being educated yourself!  Did you know? The weekend is most targeted time for child abductions.
