It's a toilet, not a trash can!

Stop flushing these items!
Be careful you are not flushing items that could cause your house to flood with sewage.

Whether you are on public sewer or have a private septic tank, it's very important that you limit the items you flush down your toilets or dump down your drains aside from toilet paper.

Never flush:
  • Paper Towels
  • Tissue Paper
  • Feminine Products
  • Condoms
  • Diapers or Wipes (even the disposable kind!)
  • Facial Tissues
  • Cotton Balls or Swabs
  • Dental Floss
  • Prescription Medication
  • Band-aids
  • Cat Litter
Never pour down your drains:
Dehumidifiers in a bathroom after a sewage back up!
  • Coffee Grounds
  • Grease
  • Varnish and Paint Thinners
  • Gasoline or Motor Oil
  • Paint
If these items make their way into your plumbing system, it's just a matter of time before your system will start failing causing a stoppage or, even worse, a devastating sewage back up that could introduce sewage into your home! (Gross!)

Aftermath of a sewage flood in Pensacola home!
We had a sewer back up last week that sadly flood a large portion of the house. The plumber said they found baby wipes and feminine products in the sewer system. The tenants kept trying to use the plumbing system even after they knew there was a problem which caused a large majority of the home to flood with sewage. This very expensive repair could have been prevented with proper use.

With that being said, if you experience a blockage, stoppage, or overflow from your sewer or septic tank system, stop using the water immediately!  Even running the dishwasher or washing a load of clothes could cause the system to fail so please be aware of this potential hazard.

Remember, it's a toilet, not a trash can!
